Eriq La Salle from “Coming to America” and “ER,” Now a 60-Year-Old Author

Eriq La Salle is an actor, writer, and director who got his first major role as Darryl Jenks in the 1988 film “Coming to America”. However, he is probably best known for his role as Dr. Peter Benton in the popular medical drama series “ER.” He was a main cast member of the show from its premiere in 1994 until his departure in 2002.

During his time on the show, he earned three NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series. His portrayal of the ambitious and often volatile surgeon Benton was a standout performance that solidified his status as a respected actor.

Before his breakout role on “ER,” La Salle made his big-screen debut in the 1985 comedy “The Last Dragon” and went on to appear in several other films throughout the 80s and 90s, including “Coming to America” and “Jacob’s Ladder.” La Salle also had notable guest-starring roles on popular TV shows like “Miami Vice” and “Law & Order.” In addition to his acting work, La Salle has also written and directed several films, including “Crazy as Hell” and “Rebound: The Legend of Earl ‘The Goat’ Manigault.”

In recent years, La Salle has continued to work steadily in both film and television. He had a recurring role on the CBS drama series “A Gifted Man” and appeared in the comedy film “The Cobbler” alongside Adam Sandler. He also made his directorial debut on the Starz series “Power” in 2018.

Throughout his career, he has shown versatility and range as an actor, writer, and director, and his contributions to the entertainment industry have been significant and impactful.

Although he continues his work in Hollywood, he has also become an author of several best-selling crime novels including Laws of Depravity and Laws of Wrath, both available on Amazon.
