After making a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May’s life — at the cost of erasing his marriage to Mary Jane Watson — Peter Parker wakes up in a drastically altered world. A host of new threats emerge, most notably Mister Negative — a mysterious crime lord with a dual identity. By day, he’s Martin Li, a generous philanthropist who runs a homeless shelter. By night, he transforms into Mister Negative, the leader of the Inner Demons, a violent gang that uses weapons charged with dark energy. Peter also encounters Menace, a glider-riding villain similar to the Green Goblin, who is secretly Lily Hollister, the politically ambitious girlfriend of Harry Osborn, who has mysteriously returned from the dead. As Spider-Man, Peter continues to be misunderstood by the public and distrusted by the authorities. He loses jobs, relationships, and even friendships — yet he never gives up. Despite all the setbacks, he remains committed to his mission, guided by the belief that “with great power comes great responsibility.”
