Lewis Hamilton’s bold designer outfits have become the talk of the track at F1 races across the world

Lewis Hamilton has been the most talked about Formula One star ever since making his debut in the sport in 2007.

The Brit has a claim for being the greatest to ever get behind the wheel after equalling Michael Schumacher’s seven world championship triumphs in 2020, and he has no intention of calling it a day any time soon.

But it is not just his performances on the track that get tongues wagging. Hamilton is not shy in trying out some eye-catching outfits, and his latest bold look at the Canadian Grand Prix simply could not be ignored.

His two-piece tiger striped outfit turned heads once more, and that has become a common theme when it comes to what he’s wearing.

Mail Sport takes a look at some of his daring ensembles from over the years.

Hamilton at Hilfiger show

Hamilton was in town when the Tommy Hilfiger Women’s Collection fashion show rolled into Los Angeles in February 2017.

He kept things simple when it came to his shirt, trousers and shoes, going with an all-white look. But it was all about the jacket.

With a floral pattern on the sleeves, it was already a standout look, with the left-side of the jacket pink and the right-side a dark green/brown colour.

The F1 great was named as Hilfiger’s menswear ambassador the following year.

Hamilton hits the club

Loulou’s night club in Mayfair is not your ordinary bar, and Hamilton did not go with an ordinary ensemble when he went there in September 2017.

Once again, he chose to go with Louis Vuitton gear. His jacket was a mix of blue, red and white with multiple US flags on it, while the same shades were present on his trousers, with the right leg completely blue and the left leg red and white.

A stripy white and blue t-shirt and Timberland boots completed the outfit, while he also wore sunglasses despite making his way to the club in the late hours.

Checked anorak in Milan

Hamilton attended the Missoni show at the Milan Fashion Week in September 2017.

On a warm evening in Italy, he opted for checked shorts, and paired them up with an identical checked anorak and socks.

A typically colourful jumper completed the look as Hamilton posed for the cameras.

Tartan time

As you can see, Hamilton’s desire to try something different is not a new trend, and he looked right at home at the London Fashion Awards in December 2017.

He turned up to the Royal Albert Hall event wearing an Tartan outfit with a simple black T-shirt underneath. Silver was the order of the day when it came to jewellery, as he donned three chains, two bracelets and a pair of rings.

He appeared in good spirits as he rubbed shoulders with some major stars from various industries.

Hamilton posed for photos with Rita Ora, Conor McGregor, Jourdan Dunn and Irina Shayk on a night of glamour in the capital, and then claimed he had the ‘best table in the house’ in a subsequent Instagram post.

Casual cargo

Perhaps the looks that impress the most are the ones that look effortless.

Hamilton adopted a casual look when he arrived at the Austrian Grand Prix in 2021 in a £1,000 purple cargo ensemble.

It was worth looking at what he had on his feet as well. Hamilton splashed out £900 on black boots with a purple trim.

Hamilton shows his quirky side

It is always difficult to predict what Hamilton will wear ahead of a race weekend, and no one could have guessed what he picked for the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix.

He selected the French designer Jacquemus and wore a quirky wool outfit, with orange printed flowers on a purple background.

He perhaps couldn’t make up his mind whether he was hot or cold as he had an oversized jacket along with shorts.

Hamilton topped off the look with a pair of £595 Louis Vuitton sunglasses.

Maths in Melbourne

Hamilton went with a simple black jumper in Melbourne for the 2022 Australian Grand Prix, but it was all about what was on it that mattered.

The jumper was filled up with maths equations in green letters, accompanied by some words as well.

Black boots – a Hamilton staple – were on his feet, and some colourful checked green trousers plus green-trimmed sunglasses made it a very intriguing look.

Marvellous in Mustard 2

Hamilton rocked up to last year’s French Grand Prix in a summer mustard yellow outfit.

With the sun beaming down he opted for a £290 vest to show off his toned arms, and complemented that with £315 trousers.

He strolled round the circuit carrying a book, while also wearing his trademark designer sunglasses, a collection of chains, rings on both hands and a bracelet on his right wrist.

He had started the weekend with a different look, but a no less expensive one. Hamilton turned up to Friday’s practice session in a £1,150 Burberry shirt and red trousers.

The shirt – a mix of red, white and pink – had the message ‘Universal Passport’ emblazoned on it.

Kenzo in Canada

Hamilton is clearly a fan of floral patterns, and that was evident again at the Canadian Grand Prix last June.

He arrived on Thursday ahead of the following day’s practice session in a green floral Kenzo outfit with circular shades.

A pair of chunky black boots and sunglasses complemented the look as Hamilton was seen strolling around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on his phone.

Knitted jumper and hat in July

Hamilton has shown time and time again that the weather doesn’t matter when it comes to picking his clothes.

That was the case once more in July 2022 when he wore a knitted blue jumper and hat combination, along with some blue trousers ad white trainers.

He pulled it off, but wearing wool at that time of year with the sun beating down is a bold call.

Despite the sun beating down, Hamilton still opted for a wooly blue jumper and hat combo

Couture co-ord in Monza

There was no downpour in Monza last September but that didn’t matter to Hamilton as stepped out in a couture raincoat and shorts co-ord.

The speckled two-piece was from designer Teddy Von Ranson’s AW/22 collection.

Hamilton wore black boots and sunglasses, along with a selection of sizeable silver rings on both hands.

Fuchsia fun in Singapore

Hamilton turned heads by donning an £880 blue and purple patterned waistcoat with £968 fuchsia trousers in Singapore last year.

It was a bold look, but they weren’t even the most expensive items as he plumped for £1,050 Versace Chelsea boots.

The look was complete with snazzy black Police sunglasses and a huge silver chain.

He may have only need a waistcoat for that day, but then on the same weekend he sported a chunky blue and yellow sweater, with oversized cream trousers, highlighting the range of his fashion sense over the course of a couple of days.

Classy in cream 2

The Monaco Grand Prix tends to bring out all the stars, but Hamilton was in no mood to be outdone in Monte Carlo earlier this year.

After arriving on a luxurious boat, Hamilton stepped out in a cream Louis Vuitton outfit from their spring collection.

The shirt and trousers were covered in a floral pattern as Hamilton looked suitably stylish for a big weekend on the racing calendar.

He also wore £1,200 Chrome Hearts sunglasses and £877 white Louis Vuitton trainers with a gold trim.

On the same race weekend he also sported a pink and red oversized long-sleeved shirt with the number 23 on it – a historic number in sports worn by basketball icons Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

He paired that up with some green oversized trousers as he strolled around the paddock.

Vibrant fluorescent green

It may have been a bright, sunny day in Barcelona earlier this month, but Hamilton wasn’t feeling the heat as he turned up to practice with a fluorescent green long-sleeved shirt and trousers combination.

There was no expense spared on the outfit, with the shirt and trousers both costing £970 for a combined total of £1940.

He completed the look with a pair of designer sunglasses, shiny black boots and hoop earrings.

Hamilton caught the eye with his dazzling style, and then went on to shine in the race by recording his best finish of the season as he came home in second behind Max Verstappen.

He’s had a three-week break since winning the first race of the season in Bahrain.

And Lewis Hamilton was all business as he strolled around the Circuit Enzo e Dino Ferrari ahead of Sunday’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy, on Thursday.

The seven-time world champion, 36, looked every inch the F1 star as he embodied racing spirit in a chequered flag inspired set by Jacquemus, costing a cool £922.

Lewis caught the eye in his striking ensemble, which boasted £502 wide-leg trousers with large pockets on the side.

His matching £420 collared jacket also featured the same eye-catching print as well as both buttons and a zip fastening down the front.

Keeping things comfortable, Lewis donned a pair of complementary white and blue trainers for the walk at the track with his trainer Angela Cullen.

The professional driver completed his pre-race weekend look with some stylish sun-glasses and a white face mask.

Lewis won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix last year, with team-mate Valtteri Bottas finishing in second place.

The upcoming racing weekend has seen its schedule rearranged slightly to avoid an overlap with the start of Prince Philip’s funeral.

Qualifying on Saturday has now been moved forward by an hour, now running from 1 to 2pm, to avoid overlapping with the start of the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

Seven of the 10 teams are based in the UK and F1 wished to avoid any possible embarrassment of Sir Lewis, who was awarded a knighthood in December’s honours list, and his fellow drivers fighting for pole as the funeral begins in Windsor.

The Duke, who served as president-in-chief of the British Racing Drivers’ Club for 42 years, will be honoured with a minute’s silence prior to qualifying.

Friday’s times have also been changed in accordance with rules requiring final practice to start no less than 19 hours after the end of second practice.

The funeral at Windsor Castle starts with a national minute’s silence at 3pm BST.

Lewis’ appearance also comes after he teased a potential clothing line as he donned a personalised tee with a picture of himself as a baby on and wrote: ‘Coming soon’ on Twitter.

‘Coming soon’: Lewis recently hinted he’s launching a clothing line when he revealed the T-shirt he wore at the Grand Prix in Bahrain featured a picture of HIMSELF as a toddler

The driver looked typically stylish as he was spotted wearing the purple printed T-shirt in Bahrain.

And he made sure to shine a spotlight on the clothing item at the start of April as he revealed the adorable original photo to social media.

The throwback image was transformed into an electric purple graphic on the star’s slim-fitted tee, with the word ‘Loyalty’ inked up above.

After sharing the snaps on social media,  fans were quick to quiz Lewis on whether he’s launching a clothing line or possibly having children
