One Piece: Oda Reveals The First Glimpse Of Joy Boy

One Piece chapter 1115 was absolutely sensational as it delivered quite a lot of incredible information from the Void Century to the fans. Of course, a ton of this information was stuff that fans had already theorized on their own. However, it is nice to finally have confirmation about theories. At the same time, Oda also reveals some of the biggest secrets which were shocking for fans both old and new.

As was mentioned by the genius scientist Vegapunk himself, the tale of Void Century is one of Joy Boy, a mysterious and powerful individual who was prominent back during this time. Since Vegapunk was going over Joy Boy’s story, a lot of the fans actually expected a flashback from Oda. While it was too early for a flashback on Joy Boy and the Void Century, Oda satiated the hunger of the fans in other ways, and it is safe to say that the readers are intrigued by what they have seen.

Joy Boy’s First Glimpse In One Piece

Joy Boy’s First Silhouette Has Finally Been Revealed

One Piece chapter 1115 gave fans their first proper glimpse of Joy Boy. Before this, fans had never seen Joy Boy ever in the story. The fans had only heard of Joy Boy through various people. The Fishman Island Poneglyph was the first one to mention him, and after that, many other individuals mentioned the name Joy Boy as well, such as King, Oden, and the Roger Pirates, among others. Joy Boy is a very special pirate and fans have been desperately waiting for his arrival in the story. Of course, right now, Joy Boy has arrived in the form of Luffy. However, the real Joy Boy who lived long ago in the past must have been a very special figure too. In One Piece chapter 1115, fans finally gave a proper glimpse of Joy Boy to the readers. Unfortunately, fans could not see his face. All they could see was the Silhouette of this individual.

Just like the legendary Sun God Nika from the fables of Elbaf, he too fought with a stretchy and elastic body. They called him Joy Boy!

As Vegapunk told the tale of Joy Boy, fans finally got to see what Joy Boy did during the Void Century. Clearly, back then, there was a clash of ideologies between Joy Boy’s group, and an alliance formed by 20 Kingdoms. Since they were at opposing ends, they ended up fighting against one another, and a century-long war erupted. This war was absolutely massive and resulted in countless deaths, and at the same time, the face of the world being changed completely. During this war, Joy Boy fought against these 20 sovereigns of the world and this is where fans got a proper glimpse of him. Joy Boy was seen leaping in the air, utilizing the power of Gear 5, and attacking the 20 Kings. Clearly, Joy Boy was a formidable enemy for them to take on and it is precisely why they had to band together.

Sadly, at the end of this century-long battle, which reshaped the entire Earth, Joy Boy ended up dying. This was confirmed by Vegapunk himself, and fans also know that before his death, he went to the Final Island, which Roger later christened as Laugh Tale, and left all his treasure there. The One Piece itself was preserved by Joy Boy and there, all the secrets of the world were uncovered. The Rio Poneglyph can also be uncovered on the Final Island, and fans know that before he died, he left behind a significant treasure of both wealth and knowledge.

Joy Boy eventually died and this is what marked the conclusion of the Void Century. Following this Void Century, the 20 Kingdoms who had joined forces together to create The Alliance stayed together and gave rise to the World Government. They moved to the top of the Red Line, disposing of the Gods who were ruling there, the Lunarians. Ever since then, the World Government has controlled everything about the world, and that truly is a terrifying tale.

Was Joy Boy A Giant?

Joy Boy’s Race Might Be Important In One Piece

Given that fans finally got a good glimpse of Joy Boy, they can assume many things about him. The first curious thing that fans know about Joy Boy now is that he is absolutely massive in terms of size. Joy Boy was clearly seen in the air from the perspective of those fighting against him from down below. As they were looking up, Joy Boy looked absolutely massive and covered up a sizable portion of the sky. This means that Joy Boy wasn’t a regular-sized human. Now, fans know that there are humans in the One Piece world that are absolutely massive, however, it would be surprising if Joy Boy actually ended up being a human. This is further supported by the fact that the hat that is currently Marijoa, which surely belongs to Joy Boy, is massive as well.

Joy Boy is a person who lived on the surface during the 100-year Void, so, at least 800 years ago. The message he left was meant for the Mermaid Princess of the island at the time.

There are lots of ideas among fans that suggest the Joy Boy could be a Giant, however, while this idea certainly holds some weight, it is much more likely for Joy Boy to be a Buccaneer. This is likely due to the fact that Vegapunk clearly mentioned that Joy Boy was born in an ancient civilization of incredibly advanced technology. Meanwhile, he also clarified that Nika emerged from Elbaf. This separates Elbaf from the Ancient Kingdom, and that means Joy Boy was not from Elbaf, and thus, cannot be a Giant.

Essentially, this also means that Joy Boy could only be from one other race in the One Piece World, and that is the race of the Buccaneers. This is a race that was recently introduced in the story, and they are absolutely massive as well. Kuma, for example, is a Buccaneer. For someone of this race, having a massive hat makes quite a lot of sense and it would also explain why the hat that Imu saw in Marijoa was so massive. It would also explain why the Buccaneers were hunted and eradicated.

Joy Boy’s Ancient Technology

Joy Boy Might Have Used Advanced Science

While Joy Boy was from a special race, he was also from a special Kingdom which was incredibly advanced. When most people picture Joy Boy, they often think of an individual who doesn’t fight using any technology. However, it would be somewhat stupid to assume that Joy Boy did not have any scientific intelligence at all. He was from an incredibly rich Kingdom when it comes to knowledge and for him to not make use of that technology would be somewhat bizarre. At the very least, the clothes that Joy Boy wore could have some incredible technology that boosted his strength even further.

This is a very big possibility. Fans often picture Joy Boy to be somewhat like Nika, who fought wearing almost nothing, with a spear and a sword in his hands. Joy Boy didn’t do such a thing. Nika is just a legendary God that exists as tales.

Joy Boy, on the other hand, is a real person who fought against the World Government. Clearly, the silhouette showed that he carried no weapons, just like Luffy, but at the same time, he was seen wearing some sort of clothes. He could’ve had ancient technology in his clothes, and that is something that fans should keep an eye out for. While the silhouette of Joy Boy was not clear, it hid many secrets and they are surely going to be uncovered eventually.
