Lewis Hamilton once again shows off his edgy sense of style in a bright yellow co-ord set as he steps out at the Monaco Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton once again showed off his quirky sense of style as he stepped out at the Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday.

The Formula One star, 38, looked as stylish as ever as he arrived for a practice race at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte-Carlo ahead of Sunday’s big race.

For the outing, Lewis cut an edgy figure in a bright yellow co-ord set, made up of a zip-up collared jumper and wide leg trousers.

The Mercedes racing car driver kept comfortable in a pair of white trainers and accessorised his look with a chunky watch and a silver chain necklace.

He shielded his eyes from the sun with unique silver mirrored sunglasses and carried his phone in one hand as he strolled through the crowds.

Lewis wore his braided hair swept back into a ponytail and sported his signature array of facial jewellery for the outing.

He set the third fastest time in first practice for the Monaco Grand Prix – a session cut short when Williams’ Alex Albon hit the wall with a couple of minutes remaining.

At Friday’s practice, he complained of banging his knees but was not seriously hurt in the 90mph incident at the first corner, Sainte Devote.

His front and rear-left wheels hung off as the red flag was waved, yet he declared himself ‘OK’ over the radio.

As for Lewis, he was armed with the huge upgrade package that is making its debut around the principality’s tight streets.

A new side-pod, front suspension and floor are all being introduced in a bid to correct the design problems that have dogged their progress for the past year.

Lewis finished the session, in 26C heat, six-tenths behind Ferrari’s pacesetter Carlos Sainz. Fernando Alonso was second quickest for Aston Martin.

Alonso was expected to be strong this weekend and started practice at 4-1 with the bookies for the win on Sunday, while Lewis was in it 25-1.

Mercedes have not traditionally been strong in Monaco.

Sunday will mark 539 days since Lewis last won a race, the longest drought of his career.

At Friday’s practice, Lewis’s third place meant he was ahead of world champion Max Verstappen, who was complaining of handling problems and was only sixth best.

Team-mate Sergio Perez was fifth fastest, a place behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, the local boy.

Nico Hulkenburg pranged his Haas on the kerb after exiting the Tunnel. A red flag was waved and he took no further part.
