Two days ago (July 9), rapper Rich The Kid took to Instagram to share a screenshot of his conversation with Kanye West, who seemed to state his plans to retire from professional music.
In the texts shared to Rich’s Instagram story, Kanye states:
“I’m retiring from professional music. Not sure what else to do.”
Rich The Kid questioned West’s decision, citing how the industry “needed” Ty Dolla $ign and Ye to continue making music. He highlights how the music they’ve made this year was “the biggest stamp” in hip-hop culture for 2024.

It’s unclear if Kanye West responded to Rich The Kid’s messages but his decision to retire does cast a shadow of doubt on the second volume of his collaborative “Vultures” series with Ty Dolla $ign.
The duo’s Vultures 1 was delivered to all major DSPs (Digital Streaming Platforms) on February 9, 2024, and debuted at No.1 on Billboard’s Global 200 album charts. The single, Carnival, featuring Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti also did massive numbers by topping Billboard’s Hot 100 charts four weeks after it was released.

Ye and Ty’s Vultures 2 was originally scheduled to release in March with Vultures 3 set to be dropped in April. Both albums failed to drop on the announced dates, with Kanye confirming the second volume would be released on May 3 during his appearance on Justin LaBoy’s “The Download” podcast back in April.
Although Kanye West didn’t state much besides the intended release date, this interview did find the artist proclaiming his support for Kendrick Lamar, who was in the midst of his iconic beef with Drake, when previewing his unofficial remix of Like That.
This single was later delivered independently on April 21 via his “Yeezy” website. Kanye West also explained the events that led to him recording a remix to the No.1 record from Metro Boomin and Future’s collaboration album, We Don’t Trust You, when he stated:
“[Future] called me and I went to the studio and laid that. We went through the creative process of adding the chords and called the Hooligans out in London to get on the joint. Everybody was very, very energized about the elimination of Drake.”
With Vultures 2 missing its May release date, it’s unclear when or if the album will drop. That being said Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign have previewed a significant amount of records, set to be included on the LP’s second volume, during their exclusive listening parties and arena events held around the world.
The most popular teaser from Vultures was the re-sampled version of Backstreet Boys’ 1997 track Everybody with a surprise feature from Charlie Wilson.
The album will reportedly include features from artists like Kodak Black, Future, Lil Wayne, James Blake, Young Thug, and more. The list of records yet to be released after being previewed online and during his listening events have been listed below:

On June 20, Ty Dolla $ign sat down for an exclusive interview with Billboard magazine where, amongst other topics, he discussed his impact on the hip-hop and R&B industry as well as his “Vultures” collaboration with Kanye West.
During the interview, Ty noted that Vultures 2 was “almost done” and could be released directly to fans via yeezy.com. The singer highlights that Ye handles the distribution and marketing aspects of their project since he prefers to focus on the musical and sonic aspects of the albums.
“We got all the songs. Basically, it’s just like, How can we get it there? How can we go bigger than the first album? Certain people will probably expect you to just do the same exact sound, but that sound’s already out.” – Ty Dolla $ign stated during his interview with Billboard.
Three days ago, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign announced a new Vultures listening event via a post made to Ty’s official Instagram account. As per the post, this event is scheduled to take place in South Korea on August 23, 2024, and will be hosted at the Goyang Stadium.
The event’s local promoter, LeGrand, confirmed that fans will be able to purchase tickets for this event toward the end of this month.
