The Yonko are the primary candidates in the race for the One Piece. This isn’t a surprise to any fan, and they know that these powerful pirates are the main invested party when it comes to claiming the treasure left behind by Roger, and before him, by Joy Boy. The current Emperor order consists of Shanks, Blackbeard, Luffy, and Buggy. Shanks is the most seasoned of the current Yonko, having been given this title around 6 years ago. This means that Shanks hasn’t been an emperor for that long either, however, his strength is absolutely immense, regardless. He is also likely the strongest of the current Emperors and quite easily the most powerful pirate in the entire world right now. Blackbeard is a monstrously powerful individual who wields two of the strongest Devil Fruits. He has the power of the Yami Yami no Mi, using which he can control darkness, and the Gura Gura no Mi, using which he can cause quakes and destroy the entire world if he wants to. Blackbeard is a menace, and certainly a fearsome individual that can take down just about anyone.

Of course, then there are the two new Yonko, Luffy and Buggy. Luffy was given the position of Kaido after he took him down, and that only makes sense. After everything that he has accomplished in the New World, Luffy receiving the title of an Emperor is certainly deserved. Then, there is Buggy, who attained this position due to his connections with the likes of Roger, and Shanks, and the fact that he has two of the most powerful pirates as subordinates in Crocodile and Mihawk.

These four are the frontrunners in the race for the One Piece. Fans know that Luffy has three of the four Road Poneglyphs and he just needs one more to finally locate the Final Island and find out the truth about the world. Then, there is Shanks, who recently acquired the Road Poneglyph from Kid. Fans know that Kid had the Poneglyph of Big Mom and Kaido. Shanks is already friends with the likes of the Minks, given that he has already been to the Whale Forest and seen this Poneglyph as well.

Blackbeard, on the other hand, has the Road Poneglyphs of Law, which means that he likely has the copies from Zou and Kaido. He recently raided Whole Cake Island, which means that he could have three of the four Road Poneglyphs as well. Finally, there is Buggy, who fans know has no Road Poneglyphs at this point in time.

Several Marines are of the belief that they should go on and claim the One Piece to keep the pirates from ever reaching it. Of course, this is a preposterous idea, but many do believe in it. As such, while the Marines might not actively be in the hunt for the One Piece, they are on the hunt for those who are in the hunt for the One Piece. From the Government, the Elders, and the Holy Knights, are going to be incredibly involved in the race for the One Piece and one way or another.

There are also members of the Revolutionary Army, such as Dragon and Sabo, who are interconnected to the mystery of the D, and want to find out the truth of the world and liberate it from the clutches of the Celestial Dragons. These individuals too are heavily dependent on the One Piece and they must do what they can to either claim it, or aid someone who is willing to claim it, such as Luffy.
