St Garling Figarland is at the center of things in One Piece right now, and Chapter 1125 of the series saw him rise in terms of rank and become an even more important figure. Garling was already incredibly intriguing, but now that he’s been made a member of the Five Elders, he’s simply one of the most exalted people in the entire world. Of course, for an Elder, these are critical times, as they have an incredibly important job at hand.

The Elders are to execute Emu’s orders, which means that they want to begin a Great Cleansing, and at the same time, showcase the power of the World Government to those who oppose them. This means that the Five Elders are required to be at the pinnacle of strength, and One Piece will most certainly see them demonstrate their might again. Saint Garling is the only Elder who fans haven’t seen in combat, and much of his abilities will be revealed later down the line. Given that he’s an Elder, he’s likely to have a very powerful ability, likely that of a Yokai.

All Elders Were Shown To Be Yokai

The Five Elders were revealed to be fighting forces in The Egghead Island arc of One Piece. It is safe to say that this was one of the most intense arcs in the story, as all the Elders gathered together on Egghead in an attempt to stop Vegapunk’s message, and at the same time, destroy the Pirates and all those who rebelled against the Government. Fans got to see the abilities of most of these Elders, and it is safe to say that their powers were absolutely stunning. Not only did the Elders possess top-tier Haki, comparable to that of Shanks, but at the same time, they also possessed powerful transformations. Much to the surprise of the fans, these transformations did not likely stem from devil fruits at all. Instead, the transformations of the Elders were seemingly demonic in nature.

Oda referred to them with their demonic names, which, in other words, are the Yokai names. These Yokai were incredibly powerful. For fans needing a refresher, Saint Topman Warcury was shown having the power of the Fengxi, or a giant Boar. V. Nusjuro was shown having the power of the Bakotsu, or a skeletal horse. Saint Ju Peter showcased the power of the Sandworm, and finally, Saint Saturn displayed the power of the Gyuki Yokai. On Egghead, fans could see all of them were incredibly powerful. Their biggest strength was the fact that they could regenerate from any damage that they received, and were essentially immortal. Of course, these powers were bestowed upon them by none other than the king of the world, Imu.

However, now, the order of the Elders has changed. In One Piece chapter 1125, it was clear for the fans to see that Saint Saturn was now dead. Due to his failings on Egghead, largely due to the escape of Joy Boy, Saint Saturn became the target of Imu’s punishment as he stripped the power of immortality from him, leaving him there to wither away slowly and essentially turn into a skeleton. Saint Saturn is officially dead, which meant that a new Elder was going to be elected. As mentioned earlier, the new Elder was none other than Saint Garling Figarland, and this means he is due to gain new powers.

Garling Could Be Bestowed A Unique Power By Imu

All the members of the Five Elders have Yokai abilities. Saint Garling is the only one who likely does not possess a Yokai power right now. However, that certainly does not mean that he won’t get a Yokai ability as things move forward. Of course, moving forward, Oda can take two paths to deal with this situation. The first path is rather easy, but also uncreative. That said, it is still likely, and simply put, this possibility is that Oda will essentially take the Gyuki ability and give it to Garling.

As Imu stripped away the power of immortality from Saturn, it is possible that he might have taken the Yokai ability back as well. This would imply that Imu can give and take abilities freely, and the next one to receive the Gyuki Yokai power would be none other than Saint Garling Figarland. This is a strong possibility. However, at the same time, it is also very uncreative, regardless of what fans think.

The second possibility is much more intriguing. It would suggest that Imu grants a completely new power to Saint Garling Figarland. Of course, if Imu could give the elders five distinct powers, then they should be able to create these abilities or distribute them freely. This would suggest that Imu can grant a different ability to Garling Figarland, likely based on what would suit him the best. Essentially, Saint Garling could gain a completely different Yokai-based power, and in his case, a fitting pick would be the Kirin Yokai.

The Kirin is known to be an elegant and godlike Yokai, which would fit Saint Garling. At the same time, Kirin is very powerful as well, specifically known to have elemental powers, and being among the strongest of all Yokai. Using this incredible ability, Garling would be utterly unstoppable, and, it would also suit his calm demeanor.

The Possibility Of Garling Not Having A Yokai Power

Garling Could Potentially Have A Unique Devil Fruit Power

Of course, the logical thing to believe would be that Garling will gain a Yokai ability. However, there is actually a very strong possibility that he does not have a Yokai-based power at all. Much of that is down to the fact that Garling might have had an ability before even becoming an Elder. In case fans do not remember, Saint Garling Figarland was a Champion of God Valley. 38 years ago, during the Native Hunting Games, Garling won the competition. The rewards for the competition that day were powerful Devil Fruits. Kaido’s dragon fruit and Kuma’s ability were two of the powers present among the rewards on that day. However, nowhere is it stated that those were the only two rewards put on display. It is highly likely that there were other powerful Devil Fruits and that, eventually, for winning the Native Hunting Games on God Valley, Garling got his own powerful Devil Fruit. If this is true, then it is highly unlikely that he will gain a Yokai-based power from Imu. This ability could then end up being a non-Yokai power, such as a powerful Logia, or some kind of Paramecia.

Regardless, fans know the possibility of Garling not having a Yokai power certainly exists. This doesn’t mean that Garling won’t receive any power from Imu, however. The fact is that Imu can still bestow immortality and regeneration to Garling, and if that is the case, then he will certainly go on to be one of the most ferocious characters, and at the same time, the most unique Elder of them all. Hopefully, fans will get to see more about this particular character soon, and he ends up living up to all the hype.
