Authorities have apprehended suspects in two alarming incidents involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his family. Historically, Khan has been targeted by the notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang.
Recently, on a Wednesday morning in Bandra, Mumbai, a young man recklessly drove his motorcycle into Khan’s security convoy. On the same day, Khan’s father, noted writer Salim Khan, received threats from a woman dressed in a burka, who referenced Lawrence Bishnoi.
The individual approached Salim Khan during his morning walk and asked, “Lawrence Bishnoi ko bheju kya?” (Should I send Lawrence Bishnoi?), as stated by the Bandra police, which subsequently filed two separate FIRs for the incidents.
A senior police official confirmed to The Indian Express that the two incidents are unrelated, and suspects have been arrested for both cases. “In the second case, the couple threatened Salim Khan out of sheer mischief; the man aimed to impress his girlfriend. They are not linked to any gang,” the officer clarified.
Actor Salman Khan, who has previously confronted multiple threats, including those from Lawrence Bishnoi, is provided with Y+ category security. His convoy is continuously protected by security personnel and commandos during all his public appearances.
In the initial incident, a college student from Bandra (West) breached the actor’s convoy in the vicinity of Mehboob Studio and Galaxy Apartment.
The suspected biker, identified as 21-year-old Uzair Mohiuddin, dangerously rode his motorcycle parallel to the actor’s vehicle, disregarding the warnings from security personnel to maintain distance. He was ultimately stopped by a police patrol team near Galaxy Apartment.
Mohiuddin has been charged under sections 125 (acting in a manner that endangers life or personal safety of others) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), according to an officer from Bandra police station.
In the subsequent incident, after being threatened, Salim Khan took note of the scooter’s registration number used by the couple and promptly informed the police, who were able to detain the suspects using CCTV footage, a source revealed.
The couple has been charged under sections 353(2), 292, and 3(5) of BNS.
Earlier this year, four gunshots were fired outside Salman Khan’s home in Bandra. The Mumbai Crime Branch later apprehended six members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in connection with that incident, which the police declared was carried out on Bishnoi’s orders to gain notoriety.
