Denzel Washington’s recent update for The Equalizer has me ecstatic after months of speculation, not just because it promises more films for the franchise’s fans but also for Washington. Washington has been starring in The Equalizer films since 2014 as Robert McCall, a talented former Marine. Washington has demonstrated that he still possesses the skills necessary to be an action hero in three different flicks. The Equalizer 3’s calm conclusion in 2023, however, raised questions about the franchise’s future. Many people thought it would end there as McCall was contentedly retired in the countryside of Italy.

Fortunately, Washington recently confirmed that McCall’s story is not ending there. In an interview with Esquire, Washington revealed two more Equalizer movies are currently in development. Of the upcoming films, Washington said, “I’ve come to realize that the Equalizer films are for me, too, because they’re for the people. They want me to go get the bad guys.” This sentiment could not be closer to the truth, at least for me. I am definitely eager to see Washington kick more butt as Robert McCall, and more than that, I think these movies could be great for the actor’s future.
