Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially teased “Zootopia 2,” the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 billion-dollar hit “Zootopia.” Fans at D23 Expo were thrilled as Ginnifer Goodwin announced, “the bunny is back!” Reprising her role as the beloved police bunny Judy Hopps, Goodwin expressed her excitement, stating, “‘Zootopia’ is my happy place, and I am so ready for the world to see this crazy new adventure.”

The sequel promises to bring back fan-favorite characters like Nick Wilde, Mr. Big, Clawhauser, and Flash the Sloth, while also introducing new characters, including Ke Huy Quan as Gary, a creepy, slithery, and highly venomous viper. This will be the first time reptiles appear in the Zootopia world, adding a new twist to the story. The exclusive clip shown at D23 featured Judy and Nick searching for Gary in the Marsh Market, a lively new setting filled with semi-aquatic animals like hippos, seals, and sea lions. Directed by Jared Bush, with Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin returning as the voices of Nick and Judy, “Zootopia 2” promises to take audiences on the most perilous and intricate case of the duo’s careers. The original “Zootopia” was a massive success, grossing over $1 billion worldwide and becoming the third highest-grossing animated Disney film of all time. The sequel, set to release on November 26, 2025, is expected to continue the legacy, with a mix of returning favorites and exciting new characters.
