One of the standout narratives follows Clint (played by Pedro Pascal), a criminal assigned to one last job: breaking into the home of basketball star Eric “Sleepy” Floyd while he’s playing a game at the Oakland Arena. However, the plan goes awry when Floyd (played by Jay Ellis) unexpectedly returns home, leading to a tense confrontation.
The film also pays homage to Oakland’s culture and history, featuring hip-hop artist Too $hort as an executive producer and in a cameo role. Freaky Tales is regarded as a love letter to Oakland, capturing the city’s legends and local stories through cinematic storytelling.
Additionally, the movie stands as one of the final performances of actor Angus Cloud, who passed away in 2023, with a special tribute to him included in the film’s closing credits.
