Khloé Kardashian Says Son Tatum, 2, Calls Kris Jenner by Nickname Only the Late Robert Kardashian Used

Khloé Kardashian’s son shares a lot of similarities with his grandfather.

On the Thursday, Feb. 13 episode of The Kardashians, the Good American co-founder, 40, revealed how similar her 2-year-old son Tatum, who she welcomed via surrogacy, is to her father, the late Robert Kardashian.

Unlike the other grandchildren in the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Kardashian revealed Tatum doesn’t call matriarch Kris Jenner by her nickname Lovey.

“I swear he’s my dad,” Kardashian said of her son in the episode. “It’s so interesting. He calls my mom honey and my dad used to call my mom honey. No one has asked him to call my mom honey, at least not that I know of.”

Kardashian, who has been candid in the past about difficulties connecting with her son after welcoming him via surrogacy, reflected on her experience in an emotional scene in the episode. Noting that her experiences bonding with daughter True and Tatum were very different, Kardashian attributed some of those discrepancies to the varying emotional states she was in after each birth.

“I do think it was a storm of either traumas or emotions. I mean I knew he was my son and I loved him and I took care of him, but I just did not have that instinctual feeling that I had with True instantly,” she said about Tatum.

“But I knew I was going to get there. I didn’t think Tatum was going to be 5 years old and I would have no attachment to him. I never thought that at all. I simply was really mad at myself,” she continued. “Those feelings are not about Tatum. He is the best, sweetest, most loving boy. It was the situation and everything that I went through. I was more mad at myself that I couldn’t get over it faster.”

During the season 3 finale of The Kardashians in 2023, Kardashian shared more about the progress she had made bonding with Tatum after revealing some of the struggles she faced with Tatum during his first few months.

“Bonding with Tatum has definitely gotten easier,” she said in the episode.

In a previous episode, Kardashian opened up about her experiences with the newborn while talking to her mom.

“Compare it to True and him, it’s a different experience,” Kardashian admitted at the time. “The connection … took days with True. With him, it’s taking months and we still don’t have a complete bond.”
