In a shocking incident, Jillian Shriner, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by police officers during an officer-involved shooting in Los Angeles. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that she has been booked for attempted murder following the events that transpired on Wednesday.
According to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers responded to a California Highway Patrol request for backup in locating three suspects involved in a hit-and-run. The suspects reportedly fled into a residential neighborhood, prompting police to investigate the area. It was during this search that officers encountered Jillian Shriner, identified in the report by her legal name, Jillian Lauren.
The LAPD’s preliminary investigation revealed that officers found the 51-year-old Shriner in the yard of a neighboring residence, armed with a handgun. Despite repeated orders to drop the weapon, Shriner allegedly pointed the gun at the officers, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. She sustained a gunshot wound and fled back to her residence before eventually exiting and being taken into custody. Fortunately, the injuries sustained were non-life-threatening, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Further investigation by the LAPD determined that Shriner was not involved in the hit-and-run incident and that she resided at the location where she was found. Following the incident, she was booked for attempted murder, with bail set at $1 million, as confirmed by online booking records from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.
Jillian Shriner, known for her work as a memoirist and author, has been married to Scott Shriner since 2005. Her literary contributions include features in the true crime docuseries “Confronting a Serial Killer.” Meanwhile, Weezer is scheduled to perform at Coachella this upcoming Saturday.
