God of War (2018) follows the journey of Kratos, the former Greek God of War, and his son Atreus through the realm of Norse mythology. After the death of Kratos’s wife, Faye, the two set out to fulfill her final wish: to scatter her ashes from the highest peak of the Nine Realms. Throughout their journey, Kratos struggles to hide his violent past while teaching Atreus how to survive. Meanwhile, Atreus gradually uncovers the truth about his identity — that he is Loki, born of a god, a giant, and a mortal. The pair face numerous challenges, including battles with monsters and gods, especially Baldur, an immortal Aesir sent to find them. When Kratos kills Baldur to protect Freya (his mother), she vows revenge. At the journey’s end in Jötunheim, they learn that Faye was a giant, and a prophecy reveals that Ragnarok is coming, with Thor’s arrival looming. The game explores deep themes of fatherhood, legacy, identity, and redemption.
