Shocking Reunion: Cane Marries Lily Again and Takes on the Challenge of Raising Damian’s Child!
The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) plan proved monumentally disastrous. Three deaths turned his hopes of reconciling with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) into the ultimate bad look instead.
Lily was already disgusted by her former husband, who is also the father of their twins. That was before the death of Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) at Carter’s (Vincent Stalba) unstable hand.
Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers) was murdered by Carter, who believed he was helping Cane. But that misguided outcome didn’t open a path to Lily for Cane as Stalba’s character hoped.
Putting A Knife In Damian Kane’s Back
Credit to the writing staff for taking what, in retrospect, was a purposefully sleepy storyline in a controlled remote setting. Cane’s estate, which includes the maze, his office replete with monitoring devices, and multiple train car compartments, was initially interesting.
But viewers grew frustrated in parallel to the trapped character’s agitation. The seeming intention of this stretched story was to create tension, which led to the stunning throw of a knife into Damian’s back after he and Cane were drugged.
The sight of Cane holding the suddenly dead Damian, while Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) happened upon them, was terrific television. That served to instantly reveal why the slow-drip, complex storyline was actually created.
Lily Winters’ Life Changes Dramatically
Lily and Damian became close in recent months. The distrust she had for Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) revealed brother evolved into something unexpected.
While Damian was smitten from the start, Lily needed time to develop her feelings. That eventually culminated in this realized couple sharing a night together in a train compartment.
The natural implication is that Damian will live on through a child Lily will have conceived during their time together. Carter did realize his goal, as eliminating Damian means Lily is single.
Cane Ashby Fixed On Goal
Cane made himself into a billionaire with his claimed late father’s help. Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers) is said to have reformed his life before passing.
Part of that effort included helping his son to achieve what is being presented as immense financial independence. Cane used his achieved wealth to orchestrate a meeting at his estate in the South of France.
Cane’s intention of taking control of all noteworthy businesses in Genoa City, Wisconsin, always seemed far-fetched. But his intended reunion with Lily is now possible despite her current feelings for him, though plenty of plot will need to play out to make that a realistic goal.
Lily is in no mood to fall in love with Cane again. However, feelings will lighten once everyone returns to GC, Damian’s and Chance’s funerals are held, and summer and fall episodes play.
Remnant love exists between Cane and Lily. The recast character Flynn now plays holds that card but will need patience as he restarts his life in what will be a created hostile environment.
