As revealed during New York Comic Con this weekend, Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series is getting ready to return to the screen. This time around it’s in the form of an all-new series called Dragon Ball Daima, which is currently eyeing a Fall 2024 premiere. The timing is perfect to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original manga. The first teaser trailer debuted along with the announcement, previewing some of the animation after hyping up a brief timeline of the series’ anime history. Akira Toriyama is credited for the original work, as well as the story and character designs.
Most recently, Toriyama’s series inspired the Dragon Ball Super TV anime, followed by a handful of anime films, including 2022’s Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO. All of the television anime series are available to stream on Crunchryoll, which describes the classic Dragon Ball anime like so:
Goku is a strange, bushy-tailed boy who spends his days hunting and eating—until he meets Bulma, a bossy beauty with boys on the brain. Together, they set out to find the seven magic Dragon Balls and make the wish that will change their lives forever.
