Ever since the introduction of the Fusion Dance during Dragon Ball’s Majin Buu Saga, fans wondered what a potential fusion would look like between Goku and Vegeta. This hypothetical was promptly answered in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn with the debut of Gogeta, a warrior of unparalleled strength. Since then, Gogeta has made sporadic appearances throughout Dragon Ball media, notably also appearing as a Super Saiyan 3 in Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission.
Gogeta’s first canon appearance in the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie introduced his base form and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan transformation, also known as Super Saiyan Blue. Unlike his GT counterpart, Gogeta’s personality is much more serious than either Goku or Vegeta’s normal demeanor though and fittingly, he doesn’t transform into any Super Saiyan form outside of what he deems necessary to win. This seemingly causes him to avoid Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan 3 due to Super Saiyan’s superior stamina and Super Saiyan Blue’s superior ki control. This trend was broken, however, in Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission chapter 1.
In chapter 1 of Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission, a boy named Beat is sucked into an arcade machine where he finds himself in the midst of battle. On one side is the Z Fighters, and on the other side is a Baby infected Janemba. Gogeta is already present in his Super Saiyan form and has the help of Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and Beat but finds it necessary to power up into his Super Saiyan 3 form immediately. Though the outcome of the battle is never shown, the heroes appeared confident in their ensuing victory with Gogeta and Beat leading the charge.
Before this form was revealed, fans often wondered if Gogeta could actually utilize Super Saiyan 3 since Vegeta never unlocked the form. The answer, however, appears to be a resounding yes as fused warriors seem to be more than capable of ascending to forms neither fusee has achieved yet, as is the case with Gotenks’ Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan 3 forms. Additionally, since Gogeta’s Super Saiyan form is stronger than either Goku or Vegeta’s Super Saiyan Blue forms, it can be surmised that his Super Saiyan 3 transformation ranks near the Gods of Destruction in terms of raw power.
It was stated in Dragon Ball Super: Broly that the Fusion Dance not only adds the power of the fusees together but multiplies them significantly. This power increase was enough to skyrocket Super Saiyan Gogeta’s power to universal levels of destruction, and it only serves to make Super Saiyan 3 Gogeta that much more intimidating. On top of that, it’s been stated that Super Saiyan 3 draws out every last drop of potential from a Saiyan’s blood, bringing forth power they didn’t even know they had access to. The implications of this are massive and one could even go as far as to say Super Saiyan 3 Gogeta would be stronger than Mastered Ultra Instinct or Ultra Ego. Gogeta’s Super Saiyan 3 transformation will most definitely go down as one of the most powerful Saiyans in all of Dragon Ball history.
