Over two decades after the events of the original Blade Runner, the world has continued its descent into a bleak, dystopian future. In Blade Runner 2099, audiences are plunged back into the rain-soaked, neon-lit streets of Los Angeles, where replicants – bioengineered humans – are still hunted by specialized “blade runners.”
The film follows a new blade runner, Harper, as she navigates this dark and dangerous landscape. When a series of brutal murders reveal a dark conspiracy, Harper is forced to confront her own troubled past and the nature of her identity. Along the way, she crosses paths with the enigmatic and elusive Rick Deckard, the protagonist of the original Blade Runner film.

The โBlade Runner 2099โ TV series atย Amazon Prime Videoย is rounding out its cast.
Previously announced series leadsย Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer will be joined in the sci-fi drama by: Dimitri Abold (โThe Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakesโ) and Lewis Gribben (โSomewhere Boyโ), who will appear as series regulars, as well as Katelyn Rose Downey (โThe Nun IIโ), Daniel Rigby (โRenegade Nellโ), Johnny Harris (โA Gentleman In Moscowโ), Amy Lennox (โOnly Childโ), Sheila Atim (โThe Woman Kingโ), and Matthew Needham (โHouse of the Dragonโ) , who have been cast in recurring guest star roles.
Exact plot and character details are being kept under wraps, though it is known the series will take place after the events of the original โBlade Runnerโ and the sequel, โBlade Runner 2049.โ The show is currently in production in Prague, with plans to also shoot in Barcelona. Film United is handling production in Prague.

Jonathan van Tulleken will direct the first two episodes and executive produce. Steven Johnson is a co-executive producer.
Scott first revealed โBlade Runner 2099โ wasย in the works in November 2021, with Amazon announcing it was in development thereย in February 2022. It wasย formally greenlit in September 2022.
