The beloved bear from Darkest Peru is back in an all-new adventure that takes him far from the streets of London. In “Paddington in Peru,” the marmalade-loving, hat-wearing character we’ve come to know and love finds himself on an unexpected journey to his ancestral homeland.
When Paddington receives a mysterious letter suggesting his Aunt Lucy may be in trouble back in Peru, he immediately sets off to investigate, accompanied by the Brown family. What follows is a hilarious and heartwarming tale as Paddington navigates the colorful sights and sounds of Peru, making new friends and encountering some mischievous setbacks along the way.
Director Paul King once again captures the charm and whimsy that has made the Paddington films so delightful. Ben Whishaw’s warm and gentle voicework brings Paddington to life, while the supporting cast, including Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins, provide wonderful comedic support.
“Paddington in Peru” is a wonderful addition to the franchise, blending the character’s trademark politeness and curiosity with stunning Peruvian backdrops and plenty of slapstick humor. The film entered development in February 2021, and the title Paddington in Peru was announced in June 2022. It is the feature film debut of Wilson. Principal photography began in July 2023 and was completed that October, having taken place in the United Kingdom, Colombia and Peru.
Paddington in Peru is scheduled to be released in cinemas in the United Kingdom on 8 November 2024, by StudioCanal UK.
