Jason Aldean has dedicated a recent performance of his controversial hit Try That in a Small Town to Donald Trump.

The singer made the declaration at a concert in New Jersey Saturday, hours after a 20-year-old gunman attempted to take the former president’s life.

Aldean, in turn, made his allegiance known, cementing his status as a Trump supporter.

The song used to do so has surfaced as the 47-year-old’s smash hit since its release last year, despite some claiming it contains coded endorsements of racism and lynching.

Aldean has denied these claims, and appeared to hit this point home as he made his performance Saturday particularly political.

‘What happened in Pittsburgh today with out former president, President Trump – you guys know about this, right?’ Aldean says in a TikTok showing the impromptu show of respect.

‘President Trump’s a friend of mine so I want to send this next song out to him,’ he continued, speaking on-stage.

‘We all know what’s going to happen come November, so it’s all good.

‘I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania,’ Trump, 78, wrote Saturday night.

‘Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured.

‘It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country,’ he continued.

‘Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.

‘I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,’ he went on.

‘Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!’

As photos of a bloodied Trump circulated, Aldean reiterated his support in a post to Instagram, writing, ‘This is what a warrior looks like! This is MY guy.

He concluded by calling the attempt on the former commander-in-chief’s life ‘cowardly.’
