The Oscar-nominee, 28, who is currently filming Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, will star in and producer Marty Supreme, an original movie from Josh Safdie and A24, per Variety.
The film is a fictionalized story inspired by the life of Reisman, who died aged 82 in 2012.
Marty Supreme is written by Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, who produce alongside Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas.
Safdie previously worked with A24 on his films Uncut Gems and Good Time.

A24 confirmed the news on X writing: ‘Josh Safdie’s MARTY SUPREME starring @RealChalamet. Coming soon.’
Reisman was an American ping pong icon, winning the 1958 and 1960 U.S. Men’s singles champion and the 1997 U.S. hardbat champion.
He won five bronze medals at the World Table Tennis Championships and scooped 22 major table tennis titles from 1946 to 2002, including two United States Opens and a British Open.
He became the oldest player to ever win an open national competition in a racket sport by winning the 1997 United States National Hardbat Championship at the age of 67.
As well as his sporting prowess, he was known for his flamboyant style, wearing Borsalino fedoras and Panama hats.
Chalamet first rocketed to fame starring in the 2017 coming-of-age romantic drama, Call Me by Your Name. He became one of the youngest performers ever to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Actor at age 21.
Since Call Me by Your Name, Chalamet has starred in Greta Gerwig’s Ladybird (2017) and Little Women (2019) and landed a role in Wes Anderson’s comedy The French Dispatch (2021).
But the blooming talent cemented his status as a franchise superstar starring in two ambitious films based on the epic science fiction series Dune, which has raked in more than $1.1 billion worldwide.
The star is currently dating Kylie Jenner, 26 – and it has been recently claimed the reality star wanted to keep her romance with the actor out of the public eye.
A source explained that although she raves about Timothee to her private circle, she doesn’t want to make headlines.
‘Kylie is protective of the relationship, but whenever she talks about him, she has a huge smile. She really likes so many things about him,’ the insider told People.

‘Things are great with Timothee. Kylie is happy. They are both busy, but making time to see each other, especially on the weekends,’ the source added.
‘He’s been working in NYC. She’s visited him and he’s also been back to LA. some weekends. They’re making it work.’
Kylie and Timothee were spotted together in Los Angeles earlier this month, marking their first public sighting together in five months.
The pair avoided being seen together for so long that, earlier this year, rumors began circulating that they had quietly ended their relationship.
However by late May a source had assured Entertainment Tonight that they were still together and found it ‘easy’ to keep their sizzling equation ablaze.
‘Kylie and Timothée are still seeing each other and happy. They don’t need to try to make things work and it just comes naturally to them,’ said the source.
‘Their relationship is easy. They make an effort to see each other when they can and stay in touch when they’re not geographically close to one another.’
They were first linked in April of 2023, but did not confirm their romance until that September, when they passionately kissed in the stands of a Beyoncé concert.
