It might be raining at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, but the weather isn’t stopping Team USA from having fun on the boat as it cruises through the Seine river.
And star women’s basketball forward A’Ja Wilson looks to have added an extra piece of fashion to her Team USA Ralph Lauren outfit — thanks to the help of Steph Curry.
The Golden State Warriors guard — who is making his Olympic debut with USA Basketball in Paris — gifted Wilson Olympics-themed sunglasses for Friday’s opening ceremony.
“(Thanks) @StephenCurry30 for the shades,” Wilson wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Here’s another look at Wilson’s sunglasses as she took a selfie with USA Women’s Basketball on Team USA’s boat during the opening ceremony on the Seine river:
Wilson, who starred at South Carolina under Dawn Staley before becoming one of the WNBA’s greatest players in its history with the Las Vegas Aces, is making her second consecutive appearance at the Olympic Games with USA Women’s Basketball.
Alongside Curry, Wilson — the back-to-back WNBA champion, 2023 WNBA Finals MVP and MVP of the WNBA in 2020 and 2022 — joined NBC’s Maria Taylor during the opening ceremony. There, she was asked about what it’s like to be on a U.S. team looking for its eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal, dating back to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
“Legendary, I mean it really is. For the women that laid that foundation down for us since ’96 and before to now, surely amazing to be a part of. And I love my teammates,” Wilson said. “We go from competing against each other in rivals to now setting that aside and becoming teammates because we know we want to strive for gold. It’s going to be fun. We’re just out here just doing us.”
USA Women’s basketball begins Group C play on Monday at 3 p.m. ET against Japan on USA Network. Meanwhile, Curry and USA Basketball begin their chase for a fifth consecutive gold medal on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. ET against Serbia on USA Network.
