One Piece: Oda Reveals Major Plans About The Final Saga

One Piece is currently in the Final Saga, and fans have seen this story kick the intensity up a notch because this is the most exciting part of Oda’s magnum opus, and it is most certainly going to surpass all expectations that fans have from it.

Oda has previously mentioned that this is the part of the story that he’s itching to draw the most, and while he wanted to get to it as soon as possible, Oda’s buildup to the Final Saga was patient, and, at the same time, absolutely sensational, because, along the way, he managed to deliver some of the very best story arcs seen in manga in general. Now, fans are waiting for Oda to show his true skill as a writer, and it is certainly going to be incredibly amazing to see him illustrate Elbaf. In the past, Oda has spoken about his plans for the Final Saga, but, sadly, these words may have gotten buried. However, it is our responsibility to bring those words to light.

One Piece Enters The Final Saga After The Conclusion of Wano

Luffy Went To Egghead

Luffy Continues To Sail For Elbaf

One Piece entered the Final Saga 2 years ago, with the Egghead Island Arc being the very first installment within this saga. After the Wano Country Arc, Oda had already revealed to his editors and, by extension, to the fans that One Piece is going to be entering its last stretch after the events of Wano Country. Wano ended with Luffy defeating Kaido, and with that, he ended up becoming one of the Yonko of the Sea. Luffy’s rise to Yonko meant that he was now an elite pirate, and that the final segment of the story was now going to begin. Of course, fans were starting to worry about concluding, but, with the beginning of the Final Saga, it is clear that One Piece is here to stay for years to come and that it will be an absolutely sensational journey from here to the end.

Onwards to Elbaf! The land of my dreams! – Usopp

With the Final Saga kickstarting 2 years ago, fans got to witness the Egghead Island Arc, which introduced them to the character of Vegapunk, and with that, many other exciting details as well. Fans got a lot of information pertaining to the Void Century that Vegapunk had worked upon over the years, and at the same time, an exciting war brewing with the Navy and the Government as well. Egghead was full of intense action, but more importantly, the true value of this Arc lay in the lore that it delivered, and the setup that it put forward for the rest of the Final Saga.

In other words, Egghead was just an appetizer for what is to come, and when it comes to the starting arcs of a saga, the only one better that fans have seen might be arguably Sabaody Archipelago, which kick-started the Summit War Saga in an absolutely shocking fashion. Still, Egghead is up there with the very best starting arcs of a saga, and fans know that there are better things to expect, especially when taking into consideration what Oda has said in the past about the Final Saga itself and his plans for it.

Oda’s Plans For The Protagonists Of The Final Saga

The Straw Hats Won’t Be The Only Focus Of the Final Saga

One Piece has finally ended the Egghead Island Arc recently. Now, the Strawhat Pirates are headed towards the land of Elbaf, which fans have been waiting decades to see. In fact, Elbaf has been anticipated even more than the Wano Country Arc, which just goes to show how special this story arc truly is and how much value Oda has placed on it. This is truly going to be the arc where the Final Saga gets serious, and fans absolutely cannot wait to see in what direction this story goes from here onwards.

When Shanks starts appearing often, you can assume that One Piece is in the final saga. – Oda

This might be the last big arc in the entire story before the Great War begins, and that truly is exciting, and nerve-wracking at the same time. In fact, Oda has already spoken about the Final Saga on many occasions, and it is clear for the fans to see that he is itching to draw more and more of this phenomenal part of his story. Here is what Oda had to say about One Piece’s final Saga:

Oda (1999): I’ve already decided on the last panel and how the last chapter will be. In the final saga, I’ll focus on not only Straw Hats but also on events happening in the whole world. The problem is how many years it will take to start the final saga.

Oda’s comments about the final saga can be split into two parts. The very first part is pertaining to the end of One Piece, where Oda states that he has already decided on how he wants the Final Saga to end, how the last chapter is going to be, and what the last panel is going to be. This is a very good sign, because it just goes to show that Oda had already planned his story long ago, and that he wants to end it in a specific manner.

Often, authors don’t know what to do with their story, and the hardest part of any story is to nail the conclusion and give a proper ending to the many characters that exist within it. For One Piece, this, hopefully, will not be a problem, because Oda has already had plans for how the story should end, and what each character is going to be doing at the end. What is even more surprising is that these comments were made by Oda in 1999, which was just 2 years after One Piece began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump. This essentially means that Oda has had his ending planned all this time, and hopefully, it is going to live up to all expectations.

The second part of Oda’s message is the more exciting part. Here, Oda clearly states that in the final part of the series, the focus will not be on the Straw Hat Pirates alone. Essentially, the Strawhats will not be the only protagonists of the Final Saga, and there will be other players who are going to be taking the spotlight in exciting ways. This essentially implies that the likes of the Revolutionary Army are going to be involved in the Final Saga, and with them, other powerful individuals, such as the SWORD unit of the Marines, or, the remaining Yonko, such as Buggy and Shanks could also end up being protagonists. This is absolutely incredible, and it sets up an exciting saga to look forward to, starting with Elbaf.

Now, Egghead certainly was of a similar pattern, however, as mentioned earlier, it was just an appetizer, and the real thing is going to begin with the Elbaf Arc. Here, fans will most definitely see the story take fans all over the world, which means that many protagonists will begin to have their stories explored in this arc, such as Shanks, Buggy, some members of the Revolutionary Army like Dragon and Sabo, along with some Marines as well.
