Gippy Grewal recounted his first meeting with Salman Khan, where he nearly upset the superstar with a compliment and how Diljit Dosanjh intervened to defuse the situation.
Punjabi singer-actor Gippy Grewal recently recounted his first interaction with Salman Khan, during which he nearly risked upsetting the superstar with a compliment about his physique. In an interview with Mashable India, Gippy shared a photo from his initial meeting with Salman, which took place during the shoot of the song “Character Dheela” from Salman’s 2011 film Ready. At the time, Gippy admitted he wasn’t fluent in Hindi, making him quite nervous about the encounter.
Gippy recalled that when he finally met Salman, he complimented the actor by saying, “Paji badey dole shole banaye (Paji, you have nice biceps).” Salman looked confused and responded with a simple “Huh?” Sensing the discomfort, Diljit Dosanjh, who was present with the singer, advised Gippy to refrain from making such remarks, fearing that Salman might get angry. Gippy recalled Diljit’s advice, saying, “Diljit told me don’t say this, he will get angry.”
A few months ago, Salman Khan was seen at the trailer launch of Punjabi film Maujaan Hi Maujaan, starring Gippy Grewal in the lead role. The two even posed for the media together.
In a previous interview with PTI, Diljit Dosanjh, who has expressed his admiration for Salman, reminisced about meeting the superstar in Punjab while he was shooting for Bodyguard. Diljit shared his excitement and the effort he went through to get a picture with Salman, saying, “Salman sir was in Punjab shooting for a song in Bodyguard while I was shooting for a Punjabi film. When I learned he was in town, I was so excited and wanted to meet him and get a picture with him. I asked quite a few people and finally found someone who could help us visit him on the set.”
On the professional front, Salman Khan will next be seen in Sikander, directed by AR Murugadoss. The film will also feature Rashmika Mandanna, Prateik Babbar, and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles.
