One Piece: How Loki Will Be Released From His Chains, Explained

One Piece is currently in a very exciting phase, since Loki, the prince of Elbaf, has finally been revealed in the story properly.

Loki was first mentioned to the fans long ago, but a proper introduction only came in One Piece chapter 1130. Although fans did not get to see much of him, what they do know is that Loki is currently chained and that his release, which will inevitably come at some point later down the line, will be catastrophic for not just Elbaf, but the entire world.

That is precisely what fans are waiting for, as they want to see Loki in action. Thankfully, Loki’s release from his chains might happen sooner than fans might expect.

Loki’s Introduction Came In One Piece Chapter 1130

Loki is The Shame Of Elbaf

Loki Holds The Power Of A Legendary Devil Fruit

Loki was first brought up in the Whole Cake Island arc, when Big Mom went over her spur relationship with the Giants of Elbaf. It was here where Oda made it clear that the Giants are the strongest and the mightiest in the One Piece world. According to Big Mom, if she had managed to add the strength of the Giant warriors to her already powerful pirate crew, she would have been able to defeat all the other Yonko and claim the title of the Pirate King. Big Mom was certainly quite lucky, since Loki, the Prince of Elbaf, fell in love with Lola. A marriage was soon announced, but Lola wanted to marry someone of her own choosing and not be controlled by her mother. That is precisely why she ended up leaving Totland and sought her own husband by herself. This then resulted in Lola stubbornly pursuing certain men, such as Absalom, which is an exciting tie-in to the story.

If Lola had married Loki, I’d have become the King of the Pirates! – Big Mom

Regardless, for Big Mom, this was catastrophic. Her alliance with the Giants fell apart, and even though she tried to push Chiffon as Lola’s replacement, things didn’t work out for her at all. Big Mom and the Giants have witnessed even more sour relationships ever since, and at the same time, as far as Loki was concerned, fans never heard from him again, that is, until the Elbaf arc.

In One Piece chapter 1130, Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates set foot on the real Elbaf for the first time. After leaving the Block City, Luffy and his East Blue recruits, along with Chopper, explored the base of Elbaf and decided to go higher. But, Luffy immediately sensed the presence of a strong individual nearby. As he decided to go check it out, it was revealed that this person was none other than Loki, the Prince of Elbaf, who was tied up and is currently in chains.

Luffy Could Help Free Loki In One Piece 1131

Fans got quite a lot of exciting information about Loki in One Piece 1130. It was revealed by the Giants that Loki is called the Accursed Prince and the shame of Elbaf. This might be surprising to some fans, given that many had expected him to be on the good side, but it makes sense. Loki is inspired by the God of trickery and mischief, after all. As far as Loki of One Piece is concerned, fans know that he was born evil and committed all sorts of heinous acts. Ultimately, his acts piled up so much that he was sentenced to crucifixion a few years ago. It is unclear exactly which act led to his crucifixion orders, but it is highly likely that it happened after Loki set his sights on the legendary Devil Fruit of Elbaf and orchestrated the murder of King Harald, his own father. Loki succeeded in killing him, and he also successfully accomplished the task of consuming this Devil Fruit.

I’m the Sun God who will destroy the world! – Loki

Curiously enough, this Devil Fruit is known to be legendary in nature, but what power it holds has not been revealed by Oda yet. As far as Loki goes, he was opposed by the entirety of Elbaf, and was eventually suppressed.

He is now tied up in chains in Elbaf’s mountainous region on the base, and the people of Elbaf believe that when Loki is set free again, he will destroy the entire world.

Who Will Free Loki?

The question arises as to how Loki will escape in the first place. While this is certainly an intriguing question, the answer is right in front of the fans. The person responsible for freeing Loki is going to be none other than Luffy. He already saw him in the previous chapter, and despite sensing his presence, he’s quite unfazed. Even after witnessing Loki’s nature firsthand, Luffy did not seem on guard or even wary of him. He is quite confident and is even smiling at Loki. He sees no reason to not free Loki, and it is highly likely that he will be the one who removes his chains for him.

How Loki Could Be Freed

As to how Luffy going to do it, fans must remember that Luffy is a user of Advanced Haki. He can channel both Armament and Conqueror’s Haki into things and Destroy them from the inside. If he manages to do that, the chains can potentially be destroyed, and Loki can then be freed.

What Happens After Loki Is Unleashed?

Loki Will Unleash His Strength Immediately After

Eventually, one way or another, Loki is going to be freed in One Piece. The Giants of Elbaf believe that the world will end once Loki is freed. However, things might be different because Loki doesn’t seem like he is set up as a major villain. It is likely that Loki will fight against Luffy at the beginning. After all, Oda has certainly given him quite a bad reputation. He has to live up to it in order for the fans to see why he is feared so much in Elbaf. But, Loki also seems misguided in a way. He believes himself to be the Sun God and at the same time, claims that the Sun God is going to destroy the world.

One way or another, Loki will have to realize that he is not the Sun God and that Luffy is the person that he believes himself to be. If that is truly the case, then Loki could very well ally with the actual Sun God, which is Luffy. It must be remembered that the Giants of Elbaf worship the Sun God after all, and Loki would certainly not go against that. Furthermore, there are most definitely going to be bigger enemies in Elbaf for everyone to tackle, and this could come in the form of the World Government, specifically Imu, the Sovereign of the entire world. With bigger fish to fry, Loki will have to eventually side with the Straw Hat Pirates and find alongside them.
