To make matters more intriguing, fan theories have emerged to gain answers to questions that the manga author will later unravel later in the story. This time around, a new fan theory has popped up that states our beloved protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, might not be a human after all.

This theory popped up after the early spoilers of Chapter 1135, where it was mentioned that Colon is a hybrid giant, leaving them dismayed.

Eiichiro Oda teases a new truth about Monkey D. Luffy

Recently, Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus has been gaining a lot of popularity, as several theories following Red-Hair Shanks and his evil twin have been circulating the internet. The fandom believed that the manga author was teasing them with an ultimate showdown between the two Yonkos of the Sea, which would revolutionize the Shonen genre.

While everyone was thinking about how the fight would contribute to an internet-breaking moment for the manga. However, the fan theory follows Colon, who is a half-giant, half-human, and kids make fun of him for that. This has led to a One Piece theorist (@Ohara) thinking how Oda-Sensei is hiding yet another truth from the community.

He mentioned that the mangaka is hiding “another big clue about Luffy’s mysterious mother and lineage.” To reinforce his theory, he explained that the Straw Hat’s lineage is something that has been kept a secret ever since the manga published its first chapter back in 1997.

Till now, fans believed that our protagonist was a human who developed a rubber-like body because of his Gomu Gomu no Mi, but with Chapter 1135’s spoilers, everything has changed that we knew about the series.

Ohara explained the Colon is a hybrid-human giant; this made him think how, for the longest of times, nothing was shared about Luffy’s mother. Well, at first it was thought that’s unimportant, but Colon’s mixed origins have made him think otherwise, so he questioned the idea of Luffy being a human. He even drew a parallel of their personalities, and his “introduction was similar to Luffy’s.”

Thus, making him rethink that our hero might not be a human after all. He even explained another theory of how Monkey D. Dragon might have married a woman of another race. The enthusiast emphasized that the reveal of this whole hybrid race notion is a big deal and holds the answer to many questions that kept the fans questioning the possibility of the series.

Luffy’s mother plays a major role in One Piece

In the same video, Ohara continued his theory, assuming that our beloved hero is a human-hybrid, it is his mother’s race’s traits that have gifted him a distinct body structure. To further reinforce his theory, the YouTuber first eliminated most races, including Giants, Fishmen, Minks, Dwarves, and a few more.

He feels that the Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates’ mother was a Buccaneer, who has “supremely strong and durable bodies” and even worshipped the Sun God Nika. This draws the first direct connection with Luffy. He further explained that Luffy’s mother is potentially dead, as Dragon detests the Celestial Dragon, leaves the Marines, and forms a revolutionary army to collapse the World Government.

Therefore, he believes that such strong emotions can only be possible if the nobles hunted down his wife and treated her the same way they were treating Kuma. Since the World Government feels threatened by the near-extinct race, they hunt them down to wipe them out from the face of the OP verse.

He connects the final dot, stating that Buccaneers had some sort of special power that enabled them to live even when their bodies were “effectively dead.” Since it’s One Piece we’re talking about, it’s connected to willpower, which ties flawlessly with our hero’s unbreakable spirit, the Will of D., and his special Observation Haki.

Hence, Ohara emphasizes that if Monkey D. Luffy were truly of a hybrid race, then there’s a possibility of his mother being of the Buccaneer’s race. However, Eiichiro Oda is notorious for pulling off unforeseen plot twists elevating the narrative’s allure and leaving the fans in awe of his storytelling skills.
