One of the most intriguing aspects of Joy Boy’s character is his name. According to the narrative, Joy Boy’s real name was something else, and he was just given this name as a title. However, his real name is yet to be revealed in One Piece, and fans have been waiting for it for the longest time.
While fans wait, a One Piece theory has dropped a major hint about how Oda has already foreshadowed Joy Boy’s real name. The theory also explains how his name is connected to Noah, the enormous ship that was created during the Void Century, and will help the Fish-Men Island in a major way.
The Real Intention Behind Joy Boy’s Real Name
During the Wano arc, when Luffy transformed into Nika, it was established that Joy Boy is not actually a name but a mantle that is assigned to the one who will liberate the world from the tyranny of the World Government. The person or “boy” who will bring joy to the people around him will be deemed as Joy Boy.
Incidentally, this name was first given to the One Piece character, who was the first pirate sailing through the seas. He was extremely powerful and was loved by almost everyone who met him, just like Luffy. This revelation about Joy Boy’s name really brought a big change to the One Piece narrative.

One Piece Theory Explains Joy Boy’s Real Name
According to a One Piece theory posted by @Jays1Dwn on X, Joy Boy’s real name was Adam, and his actual dream was to unite the people in the One Piece world. The theory also states that Adam met the first Mermaid Princess from Fish-Men Island, who might have been named Eve. These names originate from the Tree of Adam and the Tree of Eve in One Piece.

The Tree of Adam is located in Elbaph, and the Tree of Eve is located above Fish-Men Island. The theory explains that the first Joy Boy (named Adam) left behind the tree as the symbol of his cause, and this cause was to revive Noah, the giant ship. The tree will be used to repair Noah, and the giants will help in this cause as they are the only ones who can work on a ship as enormous as Noah.
While there are a lot of plotholes in the theory, it actually explains a lot of things regarding Joy Boy and the multiple aspects revolving around his character, including the two mysterious trees of One Piece. Fans will have to wait and see how Oda unfolds Joy Boy’s true identity in the series.
