One Piece: Strongest Fire-Based Devil Fruits, Ranked

Devil Fruits offer many different possibilities for the many characters of One Piece since they can be used to transform into animals, turn their entire bodies into artificial substances, or even generate and manipulate an element. With so many options, it’s only natural that a good number of them would allow their users to wield fire.

There are fire-based fruits in all 3 of the main Devil Fruit categories—Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan—and all of them are quite powerful. After all, Pyrokinesis is one of the most common and most useful superpowers in all fiction, and One Piece is no exception to this classic trope. The following are the strongest fire-based Devil Fruits that can be found within Eiichiro Oda’s legendary pirate story.

Therefore, five new entries were added to this update: the Doru Doru no Mi (which was eaten by Mr. 3) the Bomu Bomu no Mi (which was eaten by Mr. 5), the Fude Fude no Mi (which was eaten by Kanjuro), the Gabu Gabu no Mi (which was eaten by Vasco Shot) and Marcus Mars’ currently unnamed Devil Fruit.

13. Doru Doru No Mi

Eaten By Mr. 3 / Galdino

First Appearance: Chapter 118 (Manga) Episode 71 (Anime)

Mr. 3 (real name: Galdino) ate the Doru Doru no Mi which allows him to create and manipulate large quantities of wax, which is weird as it is practical. However, this fruit does technically have minor pyrokinetic powers, as it also lets him ignite a small fire in his hair, which makes him look like a candle.

Unfortunately, the fire of Galdino’s hair is mostly aesthetic and doesn’t seem to have any offensive uses. While it excels in other areas, the Doru Doru no Mi pales in comparison to other fire-based Devil Fruits in the series. It’s most likely that this small flame is what actually melts the wax, but that still isn’t enough to make it stand out.

12. Kachi Kachi No Mi (Non-Canon)

Eaten By Bear King

First Appearance: Clockwork Island Adventure (Movie)

Fire abilities are so common in One Piece, that even some Non-Canon characters who weren’t created by Eiichiro Oda have them. One such case is Bear King, the main antagonist of the movie Clockwork Island Adventure. With his Kachi Kachi no Mi, he can harden parts of his body and heat them, which is reminiscent of how two flint rocks make fire when they’re knocked against each other.

Despite being introduced in a film from 2001, the Kachi Kachi no Mi works similarly to both Armament Haki and other canonical Devil Fruits that would appear in the story many years later. But that’s the only interesting aspect about this fruit because its powers seem to be particularly weak, especially because Bear King never poses a real threat when he uses them.

11. Bomu Bomu No Mi

Eaten By Mr. 5 / Gem

First Appearance: Chapter 110 (Manga) Episode 65 (Anime)

The Bomu Bomu no Mi is relatively useful and destructive since it lets its user, Mr. 5 (real name: Gem) make any parts of his body explode, although he mainly applies it to his mucus and his breath to use ranged attacks. It’s not the most powerful Devil Fruit, but it gets the job done.

While the Bomu Bomu no Mi’s abilities are not exactly centered on fire, the explosions it generates are quite strong, and it has been shown that they can produce flames and smoke. This is quite different from Gladius’ Pamu Pamu no Mi, which actually makes objects swell up and explode like a balloon, with no firey explosions involved.

10. Gutsu Gutsu No Mi (Non-Canon)

Eaten By Bill

First Appearance: Episode 746 (Anime)

Similarly to Bear King’s power, the Gutsu Gutsu no Mi is yet another Devil Fruit that has scorching fire-based powers, but it’s not entirely focused on the heat it generates. With it, the antagonist of the Silver Mine filler arc, Bill, becomes a human furnace that can melt hard minerals that he consumes (like ore) to create weapons and can even generate a stream of burning molten ore that has the potential to destroy entire islands.

This is a creative fire-based Devil Fruit with some fascinating attributes, but its pyrokinetic abilities are used more as a tool rather than as a weapon. Because of this, the Gutsu Gutsu no Mi is nowhere near as strong as other fruits in this category, which can be seen by the fact that Bill was easily defeated by Monkey D. Luffy, who didn’t even need to use his recently revealed Gear 4 form.

9. Gabu Gabu No Mi

Eaten By Vasco Shot

First Appearance: Chapter 1087 (Manga) Episode 1121 (Anime)

Vasco Shot is a rampant alcoholic pirate, so it makes sense that he ate the Gabu Gabu no Mi, which turned him into a Liquor Human. However, the full extent of this Devil Fruit’s powers is currently unknown. It’s most likely that it allows him to perform all sorts of attacks related to alcohol and liquor.

The only thing Vasco Shot was shown doing with his new powers was an attack called Drunken Spitfire, in which he spits alcohol and ignites it to turn it into a destructive firebomb that can engulf his targets in flames. The fact that he used it against the great Monkey D. Garp, combined with his claims that he can set an entire town on fire, proves that Drunken Spitfire is a very powerful attack.

8. Atsu Atsu No Mi (Non-Canon)

Eaten By Don Accino

First Appearance: Episode 326 (Anime)

The Atsu Atsu no Mi is undoubtedly the most impressive Non-Canon Devil Fruit that is related to fire. Its powers are wielded by Don Accino, the main antagonist of the Ice Hunter filler arc, and they let him produce a huge amount of body heat that can generate steam and negate the freezing temperatures that surround him.

Don Accino proved to be an unexpected powerhouse thanks to his fire-based powers since he was able to use his Devil Fruit in some really practical and creative ways, like propelling himself with his body heat or even throwing balls of heat from his hands as projectiles. His body can get so hot that he even survived falling into lava. However, the Atsu Atsu no Mi pales in comparison to a very similar, but way stronger, canonical Devil Fruit.

7. Fude Fude No Mi

Eaten By Kurozumi Kanjuro

First Appearance: Chapter 754 (Manga) Episode 691 (Anime)

The Fude Fude no Mi is yet another Devil Fruit with versatile powers that are not only centered on fire, as it allows Kanjuro to generate ink that makes everything he draws with it come to life. With this fruit, he has created a lot of different drawings that he used for his evil purposes, but there’s one specific creation that stands out from the others.

With his dying breath, Kanjuro created Kazenbo as a symbol of his burning hatred. This was a gigantic flaming ghost that set fire to everything it touched, could phase through walls and almost nobody could stop it. It proved to be both powerful and dangerous since it was partially responsible for the destruction of Onigashima during the final moments of the raid. This means that, if Kanjuro drew creations like Kazenbo more often, the Fude Fude no Mi could have ended up becoming one of the most prominent fire-based Devil Fruits in the series.

6. Netsu Netsu No Mi

Eaten By Charlotte Oven

First Appearance: Chapter 864 (Manga) Episode 827 (Anime)

During the Whole Cake Island Arc, Eiichiro Oda finally introduced a canonical Devil Fruit that lets its users generate extremely high body temperatures. This was the Netsu Netsu no Mi, which was eaten by the appropriately named Charlotte Oven. At first glance, this may seem like a lesser version of other fire-based Devil Fruits, but it has a lot of other practical uses that help it stand out.

Oven can not only heat parts of his body to scorching temperatures and deal major damage with his physical attacks, but he can also add heat to his weapons to make them even deadlier. But the biggest advantage of the Netsu Netsu no Mi is the ability to boil large bodies of water and generate heat beams that can target opponents underwater. The ocean is a major weakness to all Devil Fruit users, yet Oven found an effective way to work around it.

5. Unnamed Itsumade Devil Fruit

Eaten By Marcus Mars

First Appearance: Chapter 1110 (Manga)

All the Five Elder Stars can transform into gigantic and powerful mythological beasts, and each one of them has its unique characteristics. In the case of Marcus Mars, he has the abilities of the legendary Itsumade Yokai, which allows him to fly at high speeds and locate enemies from the sky.

However, his signature attack is a devastating fire beam that can generate explosions, set objects ablaze, and burn the skin of even the most resilient giants. This one technique makes Marcus Mars seem like a traditional kaiju, and it’s quite similar to Kaido’s Boro Breath. However, unlike the Uo Uo no Mi, Model Seiryu, this is the only fire-based attack that he has used so far.

4. Tori Tori No Mi, Model: Phoenix

Eaten By Marco

First Appearance: Chapter 553 (Manga) Episode 463 (Anime)

Since animals can’t generate or manipulate fire, pyrokinetic abilities are very rare among Zoan Devil Fruit users. But that’s where Mythical Zoans come into play, and the very first one ever introduced to the series is a prominent example of this: the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix that was eaten by Marco, the 1st division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates.

With this unique fruit, Marco can transform into a Phoenix, which comes with the usual abilities of a bird, like flying or slashing enemies with his talons. However, the mythical nature of the Model: Phoenix means that it can also generate Blue Flames of Restoration. These can be used to heal both the user and its allies, but they’re notorious for not producing real heat, which makes this Devil Fruit a tad weaker than some of its fire-based contemporaries. However, contrary to popular belief, Marco’s blue flames can still cause a lot of damage, as was seen when he used them to overpower Big Mom’s fire homie, Prometheus.

3. Mera Mera No Mi

Eaten By Portgas D. Ace & Sabo

First Appearance: Chapter 158 (Manga) Episode 94 (Anime)

The Mera Mera no Mi is what usually comes to mind whenever One Piece fans think about fire-based Devil Fruits. This makes sense because this is the quintessential pyrokinetic ability: A Logia Devil Fruit that lets its user transform their entire body into scorching flames that they can also manipulate in various ways. It’s powerful and practical, and it has a lot of different uses.

Portgas D. Ace was the first user of the Mera Mera no Mi, and he was a proficient fighter, especially because he came up with multiple explosive moves, like Dai Enkai: Entei or his signature Fire Fist. But this fruit also had some interesting applications outside of combat, since Ace also used his flames to power up the engine of his raft, the Striker.

After Ace’s tragic death, the Mera Mera no Mi went back into circulation, and it was apparently so famous and powerful that a lot of people were eager to wield its fire-based powers. Fortunately, the person who ended up eating it was Luffy and Ace’s brother, Sabo. He used the Mera Mera no Mi differently from Ace, especially because he combined its flames with his potent Armament Haki to create effective new techniques, like his iconic Burning Dragon Claw Fist.

2. Uo Uo No Mi, Model: Seiryu

Eaten By Kaido & Kozuki Momonosuke (Artificial)

First Appearance: Chapter 921 (Manga) Episode 912 (Anime)

Just like Marco’s Devil Fruit, the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu is a Mythical Zoan that has many abilities, with some of them being related to fire. But the pyrokinetic abilities of Kaido’s eastern dragon form are so incredibly powerful that they are among some of the most impressive in the entire series. By transforming into a gigantic kaiju-like beast, Kaido can use his signature move: Boro Breath, a potent blast of fire that can destroy entire cities with ease, and it’s even comparable to Godzilla’s atomic breath.

On top of that, he can also walk in the air by conjuring Flame Clouds, which is yet another practical use for its fire-based abilities. Lastly, Kaido’s strongest technique, Kaen Daiko, is also related to his flames, since he can create a gigantic magma dragon that melts everything around him, and only the combination of Luffy’s Awakened Gear 5 form and his Advanced Conqueror’s Haki was able to counter it. Kozuki Momonosuke also ate an artificial replica of this Devil Fruit, and even though it was apparent that it had all the same abilities, it was evident that Kaido’s real fruit was much stronger because he spent years mastering it.

1. Magu Magu No Mi

Eaten By Sakazuki

First Appearance: Chapter 554 (Manga) Episode 463 (Anime)

Some Devil Fruits in One Piece were designed to be the superior versions of others, and the Magu Magu no Mi is one of the most prominent examples, seeing as this magma-based Logia is the natural evolution of the Mera Mera no Mi. Of course, a power as dangerous as this one can only be wielded by one of the deadliest authorities in this world, Sakazuki.

Thanks to his immense firepower, Sakazuki becomes a living volcano and a true force to be reckoned with. He can melt people in mere seconds, shoot flaming fists, build constructs out of magma, and even summon a deadly meteor shower. This fruit was powerful enough to give its user the strength and resistance to go toe-to-toe against Whitebeard, the so-called Strongest Man in the World. Furthermore, the fact that Sakazuki was able to kill Ace—the then user of the Mera Mera no Mi—demonstrates that the Magu Magu no Mi can achieve higher temperatures than any other fire-based Devil Fruits in the series, and ultimately cements it as the most powerful one of its kind.
