One Piece: Why V. Nusjuro Might Be Stronger Than Mihawk, Explained

One Piece’sEgghead Island arc has certainly excited fans as it has introduced quite a lot of interesting characters and seen some other important ones finally take the stage. The Five Elders, who fans known to be the endgame antagonist of the series have also made their presence known in this arc. No fan of the story expected them to show their powers here, but, against all expectations, Oda did the impossible and raised the heat through the roof in this arc by showcasing the ability of every single one of the Elders.

Of course, the fans were always intrigued by the bald swordsman Elder, whose name was revealed to be St Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro. Given that he is a powerful swordsman, fans were always wondering what he was truly capable of, and based on his display as of late, he might just be the most powerful swordsman in One Piece.

V. Nusjuro’s Skills As A Swordsman

V. Nusjuro Possesses Skills Of The Highest Order

Before Egghead Island, fans weren’t exactly sure how strong the Elders were. Some believed that the Elders were incredibly powerful, while others thought they were just political figures with no strength. Oda completely destroyed the latter idea in the Egghead Island Arc, when every single one of them was revealed to be mighty powerful. In fact, it can be safely said that the Elders are in the same bracket as the Emperors of the Sea, if not higher. When it comes to Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, fans need to keep in mind that he is an incredibly powerful swordsman who can compete with any of the Emperors. Unlike the other Elders, he wields a sword in combat and that makes him quite special. He also seems to have some ties to the land of Wano, but fans will likely not hear more about that until much later in the story.

Regardless, what fans know for sure is that his skills with the sword are absolutely impeccable. Before he even utilized his sword, fans knew that he carried a special blade. This is because the hilt of the blade is similar to Zoro’s Kitetsu. Fans know that there are three Kitetsu swords in the One Piece world. The third generation of Kitetsu, called Sandai Kitetsu, is currently in possession of Zoro. Nidai Kitetsu was seen in Wano, and that blade is certainly stronger than Zoro’s Sandai. The strongest of the Kitetsu blades, with the mightiest of curse, is the Shodai Kitetsu, or the First Generation Kitetsu sword. This blade is wielded by none other than Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, which possesses the mightiest curse of all and it surely elevates Nusjuro’s skill to a completely different level.

When it comes to swordplay, fans got a proper glimpse of his abilities in the previous chapter of the story. His swing was almost going to kill Bonney, had Franky not saved her. The swing that was dodged by these individuals ended up chopping a large portion of the Giants’ ship, which just goes to show that his slices are incredibly fast.

Bio response detected!! There are too many obnoxious bio responses! – Nusjuro before slicing the Labophase in half.

On top of that, he then showcased an incredibly massive feat that left every single fan shocked. By leaping into the air, he was able to slice the entire labophase in half. Fans need to keep in mind that the labophase is like an island of its own. He chopped it in half from distance and that is an incredibly massive feat. The fact is that he did this with a no-name attack and it didn’t even feel like he was trying. This suggests that his skills with the sword are absolutely incredible and they might just be the strongest in the series.

V. Nusjuro’s Other Abilities

V. Nusjuro Is More Than Just A Swordsman

While St Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro is a very powerful swordsman, that certainly isn’t all that he has in his locker. He also has a mighty Devil Fruit ability, or, more specifically, a Yokai ability, in his case. Where exactly this power stems from isn’t known. But, fans do know that he can transform into a Bakotsu, which is a skeletal horse.

This creature gives him immense speed, where he can move from one place to another in the blink of an eye, and he also has the ability to freeze things with his sword, somewhat similar to how Brook does it. His powers are also awakened, which means he has physical attributes that can hardly be matched by any.

Above all, his greatest asset is his immortality. Just like the other Elders, he cannot die, which means that even if someone were capable of damaging him in battle, it would simply amount to nothing as he likely possesses infinite stamina and the ability to heal from just about everything. The key to actually damaging the Elders has not been revealed yet, which means that, as of now, Nusjuro, along with all the other Elders, is unbeatable.

Is Nusjuro Stronger Than Mihawk?

Nusjuro Has A Deeper Skillset Than Mihawk And Is Stronger

The question of whether Nusjuro is stronger than Mihawk or not is quite an interesting one. Of course, fans might argue that Nusjuro cannot be the strongest, given that Mihawk literally holds the title of the Strongest Swordsman in the One Piece world. However, fans need to accept the idea that the Elders do not interfere with what happens in the world below. If someone holds the title of the strongest, this doesn’t necessarily mean they are superior to the Elders. The Elders don’t even step foot in the common world as they consider it to be inferior. Even if they do, they want their abilities to be hidden. They do not want the world to know that they are being ruled by absolute monsters who sit atop the Red Line. As such, Mihawk’s title of the strongest swordsman means that in the world of regular people, Mihawk is the finest.

Be careful! This geezer can cut anything!!

It is also a fact that Mihawk has never fought or traded blows with Nusjuro, as far as fans know. These two have likely never fought and there is no guarantee that Mihawk would be able to defeat him. What makes Nusjuro stronger, overall, is his incredibly dangerous Yokai ability. He is immortal and no matter what any individual, such as Mihawk, does to him, it is all for nothing. Overall, Nusjuro is very likely the stronger of the two and while he might not have superior sword skills to him, he is certainly stronger overall. That said, fans also know that his swordplay is peerless. In One Piece chapter 1115, Oda clearly mentioned that Nusjuro can cut anything, which means that he, at the very least, would be in the same league as Mihawk, if not superior.
